Just Us Girls #357 - Color Week

This time at Just Us Girls it's Color Week.  Lisa is our hostess and she has chosen Aqua, Kraft and White as our inspiration.  As usual with color challenges, you are to use all three of the chosen colors as well as any neutrals that you need.  Neutrals are white, ivory, Kraft, black, brown or gray.

I love using this Quilt Square Cover Up die from MFT.  When you use multiple colors, you end up with enough pieces to make more than one card.  The other cards are posted below.  I, also, used the Circle Scribbles dies from PTI and a pretty button from GKD.

Just Us Girls #356 - Trend Week

This time at Just Us Girls it's Trend Week.  Ina is our hostess and she has chosen the trend of Watercolor.  Here is how I was inspired.

I love the colors on this card!  This is the second attempt.  The first one I used light blue and it was too near the color of the flowers because they faded into the background.  The yellow and orange watercolor background really make the flowers pop.

Seize the Birthday - No Topping

This time at Seize the Birthday there is no topping.  As usual it's "Anything Goes" as long as it's for a birthday.

I would like to welcome, Monika Reeck, as our Surprise Party Guest for the months of August and September.  Welcome, Monika!  Please stop by her blog and leave some love!

I bought a fun birthday kit from MFT called Make a Wish.  Everything on this card is from that kit, except the die that I used to cut the patterned paper.  The kit contained stamps, dies, a patterned paper pad, card stock and 8 ink cubes.

Please visit the Seize the Birthday blog to see the beautiful cards the rest of the team and our Surprise Party Guest, Monika, have made this time.  I hope you will come and play along with us.

Just Us Girls #355 - Word Week

This time at Just Us Girls it's Word Week.  I am your hostess and I have chosen the word Water as our inspiration.  It has been so incredibly hot in the Midwest for the last couple of weeks.  Hope you all have fun playing in the water with this challenge.  Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I would like to welcome, Colleen Foelker, as our Guest Designer for the month of August. Welcome, Colleen!  Please visit her blog and leave some love.

Water, water everywhere!  The background is one I actually made for a Make It Monday at PTI but got extremely busy and never made the card.  I thought it would make a great water background.  The technique is called  Reverse Stenciling.  I picked a stencil from Jim Holtz called Flourish Layering Stencil.  I applied ink to the stencil with a brayer and misted it with water.  Then I placed my card stock on top of the stencil and pressed until the ink transferred.  I added some waves called "What the Doodle" and my sweet little boy paper doll all dressed up to play.  I sprayed shimmer spray on the water and waves for some sparkle.

Just Us Girls #354 - Wild Card

This time at Just Us Girls it's Wild Card week.  Nancy is our hostess and she has chosen Let's hear it for the girls, as our inspiration.  Here's what I came up with.

With the completion of this challenge, we will be saying goodbye to our July Guest Designer, Carol Mayne.  Carol your cards are absolutely beautiful, and we are so happy that you spent this month playing along with us.

I love this high top die. I originally bought it for my grandsons, but made one for my granddaughter using a pink glitter paper, and it was a big hit.  This time I used some aqua glitter paper and dolled it up with pink laces and a star.....so let's hear it for the girls!

Seize the Birthday - Pink & Brown

This time at Seize the Birthday our topping is Pink and Brown.  Of course, it's always "Anything Goes" if you don't want to do the topping as long as it's for a birthday.

I have to say that I struggled with this one.  With this color challenge you are allowed to use pink, brown and whatever neutrals you need.  Neutrals are white, ivory, black, brown, Kraft & gray.  So I decided to use two shades of pink (Bubblegum Pink & Passionate Pink) and two shades of brown (Warm Cocoa & Kraft) for added interest.  I started with a set from W Plus 9 called Quilt Prints for my background.  The focal image is from PTI and is called Just Desserts.  The sentiment and dies are from Reverse Confetti.

Please visit the Seize the Birthday blog to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the team and our Surprise Party Guest, Mynn Kitchen.  I hope you will be inspired and come play along with us.

Just Us Girls #353 - Photo Week

This time at Just Us Girls it's Photo Week.  Sue is our hostess and she has chosen a fun photo for our inspiration.  Here is how I was inspired.

I didn't have anything golf related so I decided to focus on the gradient background.  I marked the card stock at 1/2 inch intervals and masked to sponge on the various colors.  I took the color of the golfer's pants as the mum color.  The sentiment was embossed on Vellum.

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the wonderful cards the rest of the team and our GD, Carol Mayne, have made this time.  I hope you will be inspired and come play along with us.
